Brett grew up in eastern Kentucky and moved to Hampton Roads in his senior year of high school. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served 10 years as an aircraft mechanic then switched careers and spent the remaining 12 years as a command & control specialist. He has been assigned to Aisia and the Middle East with his final posting in the White House Military Office. The next 10 years was spent as a Department of Defense contractor working in the Office of the Secretary of Defence for Policy office where he assisted federal agencies in their continuity of operations plans. He held a Top Secret clearance, Sensitive Compartmented Information/Yankee White being the highest degree of security.  In 2009, Brett became very political minded and started volunteering his time with several grass-roots organizations around northern VA.
